Cookie policy
This is the cookie policy for ViciniMap’s marketing site at vicinimap.com. The application (sign-up, dashboard, the map editor) has its own policy, linked from inside the app.
What this site sets
By default, this site sets no analytics or tracking cookies. The two tools below are loaded only after you click OK, got it on the cookie banner. If you click Decline, or simply never make a choice, neither tool ever loads and no third-party cookies are set.
If you opt in, the marketing site loads:
- Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID
G-T59B0CN9VT) — aggregate traffic and page-view metrics. Loaded fromgoogletagmanager.comand sets_ga/_ga_*cookies. - Microsoft Clarity (project
w7jpyqktuh) — heatmaps and session replay so we can see where the page confuses people. Loaded fromclarity.msand sets_clck/_clskcookies.
The legal basis for both is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), given through the banner.
We also store your choice locally — a single key
(vm-cookie-consent, value accepted or declined) in your browser’s localStorage, so the banner doesn’t keep reappearing.
Storing that preference is strictly necessary and exempt from consent requirements under the
ePrivacy rules. To withdraw consent, clear your browser’s site data for vicinimap.com
— the banner will reappear on your next visit and you can choose again.
Third-party resources
Every font (Space Grotesk, IBM Plex Mono) and every image on this site is self-hosted and served from the same origin as the page — no CDN, no font service, no external image host. Unless you opt in to analytics, loading this site makes no request to any third-party domain, so no third party learns your IP address from your visit. If you do opt in, the only third-party requests are the Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity ones described above.
Hosting
Pages are delivered through our hosting provider, Cloudflare. Like any web server, it processes standard connection data (such as your IP address) transiently in order to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse — a legitimate interest under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. We run no analytics on top of that connection data and build no profile of you from it.
Cookies set by the application
When you sign up at app.vicinimap.com, the application sets a session cookie so you stay signed in. That behaviour is necessary for the service and is covered by the application’s own cookie and privacy notices.
Your rights (GDPR / UK GDPR)
If you’re a resident of the EU, UK, or EEA, you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you,
- withdraw consent at any time (see above — it’s as easy as giving it),
- request deletion,
- object to processing,
- lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.
