Cookie policy

This is the cookie policy for ViciniMap’s marketing site at vicinimap.com. The application (sign-up, dashboard, the map editor) has its own policy, linked from inside the app.

What this site sets

By default, this site sets no analytics or tracking cookies. The two tools below are loaded only after you click OK, got it on the cookie banner. If you click Decline, or simply never make a choice, neither tool ever loads and no third-party cookies are set.

If you opt in, the marketing site loads:

  • Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-T59B0CN9VT) — aggregate traffic and page-view metrics. Loaded from googletagmanager.com and sets _ga / _ga_* cookies.
  • Microsoft Clarity (project w7jpyqktuh) — heatmaps and session replay so we can see where the page confuses people. Loaded from clarity.ms and sets _clck / _clsk cookies.

We also store your choice locally — a single key (vm-cookie-consent, value accepted or declined) in your browser’s localStorage, so the banner doesn’t keep reappearing. To withdraw consent, clear your browser’s site data for vicinimap.com — the banner will reappear on your next visit and you can choose again.

Third-party resources

Fonts and icons on this site are served from the same origin as the page — no CDN, no third-party font request. Two image origins still transfer your IP address when you load a page:

  • The hero image from images.unsplash.com
  • Four example images from storage.googleapis.com

We’re swapping these for self-hosted screenshots in the next iteration. In the meantime, a content blocker in your browser will block them without breaking the page layout.

Cookies set by the application

When you sign up at app.vicinimap.com/users/register, the application sets a session cookie so you stay signed in. That behaviour is necessary for the service and is covered by the application’s own cookie and privacy notices.

Your rights (GDPR / UK GDPR)

If you’re a resident of the EU, UK, or EEA, you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you (for this marketing site: none),
  • request deletion,
  • object to processing,
  • lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.
